Chino Valley Medical Center Adds Community Classes to Growing Schedule
(Chino, CA – January 12, 2017) – Chino Valley Medical Center (CVMC) announces new class dates for health and community education classes offered in the facility.
Currently, free classes covering How to Live with Diabetes are offered twice a month. Once for Spanish on the second Wednesday of each month, and again in English on the fourth Wednesday of each month. Classes cover a wide range of topics including medications, how to care for a loved-one with the disease, and nutrition. For those that attend this class consistently, and by invitation only, a second-level Virtual Grocery Tour class is hosted with the intention to educate attendees on how to better navigate the grocery store with better choices in mind.
More recently, CVMC has added an Advance Directive “Take Charge” Symposium. This class is also free and open to the public. In short, an advance directive is a form that details how an individual wants to be cared for in the event that they cannot care for themselves. “Having these conversations before a hospital stay is most important,” shares Susan Montoya-Bell, LCSW, ACM, CPHM and Director of Case Management at CVMC. “We want to provide a platform for our community to position themselves for healthy living year-round and to Take Charge of their health and lives. Our Take Charge Symposium will cover the hard questions and uncertainties of what happens when you can’t make medical decisions for yourself.” The first symposium held had such positive reviews that it is now being offered quarterly in 2017. The next scheduled date for this hands-on class is on February 16th from 5-7p.m. For more information on exact dates and times for the classes mentioned above and future classes to come, visit: cvmc.com/Services/Community-Services.
