During the Opening Session, the Mentor of the Year Selection Committee announced that James M. Lally, DO, an osteopathic family physician from Chino, CA, is the “2008 Mentor of the Year!”. This distinguished honor recognizes the invaluable contribution of mentors to the osteopathic medical education continuum. Over 200 nominations were received this year for the distinction. Osteopathic educational and student leaders gathered last evening at the Annual Mentor Reception at which Mentor Selection Committee Chair Kristina Manion, OMS IV, thanked the five finalists, who, in addition to Dr. Lally, included David L. Dora, DO, a family physician from Muskegon, MI; Michael Fugle, DO, an orthopedic surgeon from Waterford, MI; Joanne Kaiser-Smith, DO, an internist from Voorhees, NJ; and Reza Nassiri, D.Sc., the Director of International Affairs at the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. Congratulations to all mentor nominees.
