Drum roll, Please: Chino Valley Medical Center Wins First Place in the Fifth Annual National Pink Glove Dance Competition

$10,000 donation to Relay for Life will benefit breast cancer education and prevention initiatives

Chino, California Oct. 1, 2015 – 2015 marks the fifth year that the Medline Pink Glove Dance video competition has united dancers nationwide, including healthcare professionals, breast cancer patients and survivors to celebrate and raise awareness for those still fighting – all through the joy of dance.

The votes are in and Medline announced today that Chino Valley Medical Center has won first place in the small-bed category for the 2015 Pink Glove Dance Video Competition.

Determined by public online voting, Chino Valley Medical Center received 18,936 votes, and has won a $10,000 donation from Medline to the breast cancer charity of its choice, Relay for Life.

"This win means we've succeeded in heightening awareness for breast cancer," said Dr. James M. Lally, Chief Medical Officer at CVMC. "The community really pulled together and showed that you can overcome cancer through creating awareness. Thank you to the community and the CVMC staff for your support during our journey."

CVMC's winning video represents everyone in the community teaming up together to fight cancer. More than 200 dancers, including hospital staff and community members danced while sporting Medline's pink exam gloves to celebrate hope for a cure for breast cancer, as well as honor those who have been affected by the disease. Furthermore, as part of the facility's fundraising efforts during the competition, more than $2,000 was raised for The Chino Relay for Life Foundation.

"Congratulations to Chino Valley Medical Center for putting together such an amazing video that has grabbed the attention of thousands of people from around the country," said Sue MacInnes, chief market solutions officer, Medline. "Some walk for breast cancer awareness. Others run. We dance wearing pink gloves for breast cancer awareness and prevention. It is Medline's unified mission to eradicate breast cancer. The Pink Glove Dance competition provides communities with an organized event that supports everyone who's been touched by breast cancer. The participation from thousands of dancers over the years has helped us make a significant impact in providing breast cancer related charities with the essential resources they need to carry out education and prevention initiatives."

There were nine total winners in this year's Pink Glove Dance video competition throughout three categories – Large-Bed, Small-Bed and Non-Healthcare. Each winner has received a donation to benefit breast cancer education and prevention initiatives for the charity of their choice.

About Medline's Pink Glove Dance Campaign

Back in 2009, Medline Industries, Inc. turned everyday exam gloves from blue to pink. This sparked the beginning of the company's unique breast cancer education campaign. The introduction of the pink gloves helps take the scary out of detection exams and reminds nurses about the importance of creating a comfortable, friendly and open dialogue with patients. A few years later, Medline created the Pink Glove Dance video competition, bringing together nearly 200,000 healthcare professionals, patients, survivors and communities to celebrate hope for a cure and honor all who have been affected by the disease – all through the joy of dancing. More than 16 million YouTube® views later, the Medline Pink Glove Dance competition has inspired nearly 1,000 dance videos and raised more than $1 million for breast cancer charities nationwide. The original Pink Glove Dance video can be viewedhere. In addition, Medline has donated $1.6 million to the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) in support of its mission to save lives through early detection and offering free mammograms for women in need.
